The policeman who was seen in a viral video carrying a female VIP's food plate at an event in Ilorin, Kwara state's capital, has been asked to report at the police headquarters in Abuja.The Force Headquarters, which warned its operatives attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) all over the country to stop serving purposes other than protecting such individuals from security threats, said the viral video is being probed.Acting Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the police officer has been identified and summoned to Abuja.Adejobi said; “He (the policeman) has been identified. He is coming to Abuja to meet us. We’ll ask question from him and take necessary action. We need to discourage such a thing because it is embarrassing the image of the Force and we can’t continue to be experiencing that kind of a thing because it is highly unprofessional.”> 

After months of hide and sick, the Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the request by the United States of America, for suspended Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari, to be extradited over the $1.1million wire fraud perpetrated by Abass Ramon aka Hushpuppi and 4 others.Government’s approval was made known by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) when he filed an application before the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kyari’s extradition.The application marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/249/2022 was filed under the Extradition Act.The AGF said the application followed a request by the Diplomatic Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.The request is “for the surrender of Abba Alhaji Kyari, who is a subject in a superseding three counts indictment”The AGF said he was satisfied that the offence in respect of which Kyari’s surrender is not political nor is it trivial.The AGF also expressed satisfaction that the request for the surrender of Kyari was not made to persecute or punish him on account of his race, religion, nationality or political opinions but in good faith and the interest of justice.He said Kyari, “if surrendered, will not be prejudiced at his trial and will not be punished, detained or restricted in his personal liberty, by reason of his race, nationality or political opinions”.The AGF said having regard to all the circumstances in which the offence was committed, it will not be unjust or oppressive, or be too severe a punishment, to surrender him.Malami said he was also satisfied that Kyari has been accused of the offence for which his surrender is sought.He noted that there was no criminal proceeding pending against Kyari in Nigeria for the same offence.Recall that in April 2021, a jury filed an indictment against Kyari with the approval of the U.S. District Court and demanded Kyari stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and identity theft.Consequently, the US Embassy requested for Kyari’s extradition saying, “On April 29, 2021, based on the indictment filed by the grand jury and with the approval of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, a deputy clerk of the court issued a warrant of arrest for Kyari.“The arrest warrant remains valid and executable to apprehend Kyari for the crimes with which he is charged in the indictment.“Kyari is wanted to stand trial in the United States for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, and identity theft (in the US).">

A yet to be identified young man has sustained a serious face injury after he was stabbed during a fight over sharing of “yahoo yahoo” proceeds in Ughelli, Delta State.The incident occurred on Friday at their residence located at Ogboni Street behind Government College in Oteri.According to reports, trouble started when both parties insisted on receiving a larger percentage of the proceeds citing individual roles they had played while scamming their victim.A source disclosed that efforts made by neighbors to stop the fight were in vain as one picked up a weapon and inflicted a deep cut very close to the other’s right eye.He, “This is not the first time they are fighting over yahoo yahoo money. The national headquarters of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has queried the Lagos State chairman of the union, Mr Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), over insubordination and indulging in anti-union activities.The national headquarters, in a query dated February 14, 2022, a copy of which was obtained on Sunday, said MC Oluomo had refused to carry out all the directives and instructions given to him in recent times by the national leadership of the union.The query was signed by the NURTW General Secretary, Mr Kabiru Yau.It read, “Our attention has been drawn to the fact that despite the national secretariat’s directives during a meeting with you and other members of the Lagos State Administrative Council in Abuja on February 9, 2022, pertaining to the appointment of Alhaji Azeez Abiola as chairman, Lagos State NURTW Tricycle Operators, you have refused to comply. Instead, you have resorted to intimidation, harassment and assault on the newly-appointed tricycle chairman.”The national headquarters also lamented that MC Oluomo refused to hand over the former NURTW Secretariat situated at 360 Abule Egba, on Abeokuta Expressway to the Tricycle Care Taker Committee in a bid to prevent them from using the office.The national leadership of the union also accused Akinsanya of using thugs to forcefully take over branches of his perceived enemies.“It is on record that you mobilised thugs to forcefully take over the operations of some local branches headed by perceived opponents,” the query stated further.To avoid the wrath of the union, the national headquarters, directed MC Oluomo, “In light of all foregoing, to within 48hours, hand over the former state council secretariat at Abule Egba to the newly appointed Lagos State Tricycle Committee.“Withdraw all those men you sent to take over the branches of your perceived opponents; submit a written apology to the national secretariat, and failure to comply with the foregoing directives will leave the national secretariat with no option other than to take disciplinary action against you in line with the provisions of the union’s constitution.”The spokesperson for MC Oluomo, Jimoh Buari, in an interview with a reporter on Sunday, said the query was received by the state chapter of the NURTW on Friday, but his principal had not been around since then.He said his principal would react to the query on Monday.>

A pregnant housewife, Jamila Ardo, has been remanded for allegedly kidnapping herself and collecting a ransom from her lover.Ardo, who hails from Wauru Jabbe in the Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, allegedly abducted herself and collected the sum of N2million from Mallam Adamu Ahmed of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.The 25-year-old woman, who allegedly connived with one Abdulaziz to fake her own kidnap to defraud her lover, succeeded in her plot.She was said to have used the proceeds to buy a house.The suspect and Ahmed reportedly fell in love after meeting on Facebook, unknown to the man that he was dealing with a crooked married woman.It was learnt that all through their dating, the duo never had physical contact, but the relationship blossomed as they kept in touch online.Details of the fraud, as contained in the charge sheet indicated how Abdulaaziz, while conniving with Ardo, put a call through to her lover, informing him that she had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom.During negotiation for her release, Adamu was said to have heard Ardo crying, as she pleaded with him on the phone to pay the ransom.Adamu was said to have deposited the money in a bank account with the name, Amina Mohammed.“After sending the money, Adamu was informed by his lover that the kidnappers had released her.“Adamu, however, became suspicious and filed a complaint at the State Investigation Bureau on November 16, 2021,” the charge stated.Detectives subsequently apprehended the owner of the bank account used to collect the ransom, Mohammed.According to Punch, the suspect confessed that her friend, Ardo, requested the account number to receive payment from a friend.Before the bubble burst, Ardo’s husband had queried his wife about her source of income, but she claimed that her relatives sent her money.>

A heartless man who was on the run after strangling his new wife to death at her reaidence in Abuja has been arrested.We earlier reported that Ifeanyi Victor allegedly strangled Evelyn Alifia on February 18, 2022 at their home in Lugbe, Abuja.The pair began dating last year and got engaged in August 2021, just months after.Against the advice of her pastor, Evelyn, a single mother-of-one, chose to be with Ifeanyi.In December 2021, they updated their Facebook friends that they are now married.Evelyn was financially responsible for the family, yet she reportedly suffered abuse and was maltreated by Ifeanyi, who threatened to kill her when provoked.Evelyn began planning to move out of the house when she reportedly found a gun in Ifeanyi's bag on Saturday February 18, 2022.She rang her sister and informed her of her findings and her decision to inform the police.That evening, Ifeanyi allegedly strangled Evelyn and locked her body in their room before running off.He reportedly called Evelyn's family and informed them of their daughter's death. Reports say he ran off with Evelyn's phone and ATM and promised her family that he will return them later.The police recovered Evelyn's decomposing body on Monday, Feb. 21, while Ifeanyi remained on the run.He was eventually captured on Thursday, February 24, while making enquiries about travelling to South Africa.A photo of him, taken just before he was apprehended, shows him smiling on the road with a friend, despite taking his wife's life.>

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos high court, Ikeja finds Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike (alias Evans) and two of his accomplices - Uche Amadi, and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, guilty of two counts of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.The judge convicted the three men after finding that the state government provided overwhelming evidence to prove it case against them. President Joe Biden on Thursday announced a new round of sanctions targeting Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, charging that Russian leader Vladimir Putin “chose this war” and that his country will bear the consequences of his action.The sanctions target Russian banks, oligarchs and high-tech sectors, Biden said. The United States and its allies will block assets of four large Russian banks, impose export controls and sanction oligarchs.Biden also said the U.S. will be deploying additional forces to Germany to bolster NATO after the invasion of Ukraine, which is not a member of the defense organization.The penalties fall in line with the White House’s insistence that it would look to hit Russia’s financial system and Putin’s inner circle, while also imposing export controls that would aim to starve Russia’s industries and military of U.S. semiconductors and other high-tech products.“Putin is the aggressor,” Biden said. “Putin chose this war, and now he and his country will bear the consequences.”Biden, for now, held off imposing some of the most severe sanctions, including cutting Russia out of the SWIFT payment system, which allows for the transfers of money from bank to bank around the globe, or Russia’s energy sector.Biden announced the sanctions while Ukraine’s government reported mounting casualties as Russian forces attack from the east, north and south.Biden spoke to Americans from the White House hours after holding a virtual meeting with the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Italy and Japan. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also joined the meeting.The president also met with his national security team on Thursday morning in the Situation Room as he looked to flesh out U.S. moves in the rapidly escalating crisis.While Biden described the sanctions as severe, Ukrainian officials urged the U.S. and West to go further and cut the Russians from the SWIFT financial system.“We demand the disconnection of Russia from SWIFT, the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine and other effective steps to stop the aggressor,” Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a tweet.The Biden administration, however, has shown some reluctance to cut Russia from SWIFT, at least immediately, because of concerns the move could also have enormous ramifications for Europe and other Western economies. Biden, answering questions from reporters, appeared to push a decision on SWIFT to European allies.“It is always an option but right now that’s not the position that the rest of Europe wishes to take,” Biden said. The Ooni dynasties go back hundreds of years and it was perceived that men have always occupied the revered stool.Because Nigerian ancient history was mostly passed down through oral tradition, transcribed lists of the previous Oonis differ and sometimes, contradict each other.However, most accounts have stated that a female, Ooni Luwoo, was the 21st Ooni of Ife, the supreme traditional ruler of Ile Ife. She succeeded Ooni Giesi and was succeeded by Ooni Lumobi.In some accounts, she is referred to as Lúwo Gbàgìdá, a descendant of Otaataa from Owode compound, Okerewe. She was said to have been married to Chief Ọbalọran of Ilode and became the mother of Adekola Telu, the founder of Iwo town.She was the first and only female to take the crown as Ooni after the demise of Ooni Giesi.Ooni Luwoo was a beautiful woman who took great pride in her physical appearance and that of her surroundings. For this reason, she put the whole town of Ife hard at work at keeping the whole town clean and beautiful — both men and women.She was also known to commission the unique Yoruba custom of construction of decorative pavements and open-air courtyards paved with pottery shreds. The streets of Ile-Ife were paved with quartz pebbles and broken pottery as punishment for anyone who committed an offence. The offenders were ordered to bake the clay, and afterwards use their bare hands to break it into pieces and then lay it on the floor for the queen to walk on.She was so proud and finicky that she refused to walk on the bare floor, and some of the hand-made clay tiles she walked on while she reigned are still available in parts of Ife and other parts of Yoruba land she visited while on the throne.However, she was perceived as wicked and a terror to the Yoruba people and deemed “uncontrollable” and “high-handed” by the elders of the land.After her reign ended, the council of Obas came together and vowed to never make a woman the Ooni of Ife again.The current Ooni is Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the 51st Ooni of Ife.>

A man identified as Wisdom Joseph allegedly strangled his wife identified as Evelyn Alifiya to death in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.A source who narrated the incident stated that after some month into Marriage wisdom moved into his wife’s apartment in lugbe, citing jobless as the reason.Evelyn who is from Kogi state took responsibility for Wisdom’s upkeep, including feeding, clothing and shelter.However, Wisdom who is from Abia state will constantly beat Evelyn and would threaten to take her life.According to reports, Evelyn told his family member about it and they intend to move her out of the house. On Saturday evening she found out that wisdom had a gun in his bag.It was gathered that Evelyn tried to report the incident to her sister so they could both go to the police station and report but unluckily for her wisdom noticed that Evelyn had seen his Gun.Wisdom strangled Evelyn to death with his hands, covered her body with blanket and called Evelyn’s father to come and pick up his daughter’s corpse.The sister of the deceased rushed to the house with some officers of the Nigerian police, they broke down the door and found Evelyn’s dead body.Salemgists gathered that the murderer is currently on the run.>

Mathematics is seen by many students as their worst subject, but 2020/2021 University of Ibadan (UI) graduate, Oyedeji Temitope Victor, finished as the best student in the Department of Mathematics with a CGPA of 3.87/4.00.The honour student also bagged 41 awards, including National Outstanding Mathematics Student of the Year SNE Award, Best Graduating Student in Faculty of Science, Best Graduating Student in Mathematics, JCI FOPA Award for the Most Outstanding Student in Academics, Best Sportsman of the Year, NDMSS UI.While recalling how the journey to academic stardom started, Temitope said: “When I came into the University of Ibadan 2017, that was the same year my brother Oyedeji Timilehin graduated from the University of Ilorin.“He graduated top of his class and in the faculty and that was the first and one of the important motivations that I had. I remembered my dad telling me I must beat his grades and records and I was laughing to myself because it looked quite impossible to me. But it inspired me to always be the best. Thank God I did.“Aside from being a focused student, I was actively involved in the Department and faculty’s football team. I taught pre-university and 100 level tutorials.“One of my biggest challenges as a student was being a student.
